Country singer-songwriter Ingrid Andress took center stage at the 2024 Home Run Derby held at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, where she performed the national anthem. Known for her acclaimed songs like "More Hearts Than Mine" and albums such as "Good Person" and "Lady Like," Andress, a four-time Grammy nominee, faced unexpected scrutiny as her rendition quickly became a topic of conversation on social media.

During her performance, Andress encountered difficulties with the "Star-Spangled Banner," missing several notes that didn't go unnoticed by viewers and sports commentators alike. Social media platforms buzzed with comments ranging from critique to sympathy, with some comparing her rendition to infamous performances like Fergie's rendition at the 2018 NBA All-Star Game.

Sports Illustrated writer and podcast host Alex Carr, reflecting a common sentiment, remarked, "I’m sure Ingrid Andress is a wonderful person, but that was one of the toughest national anthems I’ve ever heard." The reaction was mixed, with some appreciating her effort despite the challenges, while others expressed disappointment over the execution.
